Case Study: The Jackman Project

Demolish and Rebuild an energy efficient SIPs home.

LocationSurrey, England

Materials: Full 194mm SIPs Kit w/254mm metal web joists

The Story of the Jackman’s Project

The Jackman’s started with a burnt-out shell of a building and a dream of a new, energy efficient home for their family in leafy Surrey.

After obtaining Planning Permission, they instructed Sips Eco Panels to supply and fit one of their superefficient 194mm thick frames on their recently cleared site.  By specifying the 194mm panels, they were achieving u-values as low as 0.14W/m2K.  They also commissioned an Independent Project Manager from Sips Eco Panels’ local list of trades who guided the Jackmans through the whole build.

The Design

The design was for a large 5 bedroomed dwelling to replace the existing, burnt-out building.

The ground floor featured plenty of storage space, a Study, Play Room, and Utility as well as separate Lounge, Kitchen and Diner.  The 1st floor had 5 Beds, 2 en-suites and a Family Bathroom.

The Experience

The Jackman’s wanted to build a spacious and energy efficient home which had to be very economic to run, they did this by using our super-efficient 194mm thick SIP panels for both the external walls and roof.  Architecturally, the lounge has a vaulted ceiling, providing increased head heights giving the room a striking finish, allowing for an eye-catching feature window and creating a more spacious feeling.

Both the ground and first floor layouts have been optimised and designed to utilise the space well, allowing 5 large bedrooms and two en-suites in two of the bedrooms.
