Case Study: The Peter Project

Design and Self-Build

The Story of the Project

Karl and Joan Peter had a clear idea of what they wanted to self build and how they wanted to build it with SIPs panels. Having visited the Home Building and Renovation Show at Peterborough, they chose Sips Eco to do their revised planning drawings and to supply their super-efficient frame.

Once they received planning permission and conducted an archaeological dig, they quickly prepared the site to receive the SIP frame and less than two weeks after the erectors started on site, the frame and roof were fitted.

The Design

The design was an adaptation of what had
already been granted permission on the site.

The adaptations included the provision of a lantern roofed conservatory to the rear and the provision to allow for PV tiles at a later date if required.

The build was to incorporate rainwater harvesting, MVHR and solar panels to enhance its efficiency.

The Experience

The Peter’s ended with a beautiful, efficient home which they had largely built themselves. They were pleased with the design work and support they received:

“Sips Eco delivered a professional service from the design stage right through to completion. We found them to be friendly and helpful throughout.”

And of their speed of erection by the Sips Eco Panel team of their frame and roof?

“We arrived at 07:45hrs on frame delivery day to find the erection team already onsite and unloading the SIPs Eco Panels from the lorry. Less than two weeks later the frame, roof, internal stud walls and flooring had all been completed.”
